According to the official website of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, showed that the Baidu-Backed automobile company JiDU has officially set its headquarters in Beijing.
JiDU is a technology-based firm supported by China’s largest search engine Baidu and carmaker Geely. It has officially provided autonomous robotaxi services in Shenzhen earlier, faster than BYD and Momenta. JiDU’s aim, which began on March 2, 2021, is to design and build a human-centric, smart robotic vehicle powered by powerful AI technology and has the natural ability to learn and progress while providing superior autonomous driving capabilities. At present, the electronic and electrical architecture JET1.0 developed by JiDU and SOA, autonomous driving system, core computing power platform, and related sensors are developing. The mass production status is further iterated. In addition, the design of the interior and exterior of Jidu’s first auto robot mass-produced car and all parts and components has gradually entered the stage of mass production mould development.
At the end of last month, JiDU also announced that it had completed nearly $400 million in Series A financing. The successful completion of the new round of financing will help JiDU press the accelerator button on the R&D and mass production process of automotive robots. Baidu stated that in the future, JiDU will increase the introduction and training of cutting-edge talents in high-level autonomous driving, smart cockpit, intelligent manufacturing and other related fields, accelerate the system construction of the development and operation of users in the smart car market, and ensure the first JiDU smart car enter the market in 2023. JiDU’s first mass-produced car robot will be released at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2022 and is expected to be launched in 2023.
With the accelerated evolution of vehicle electrification, intelligent vehicles that integrate various innovative technologies such as the IoT, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence will definately become another huge market with tons of competitors.
