What is the first image that comes to our mind about an autobot? Will it be a showdown between Decepticons and Optimus Prime in the Transformers.

China, Jan.19 – JiDU announced the design styles of its robocar concept. It is reported that the robocar will be fully unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April this year, and the appearance of the production robocar will be 90% consistent with the concept car.

About JiDU:

JiDU is a technology-based startup company backed by China’s search engine giant Baidu and Chinese automaker Geely. Officially established in March 2, 2021, JiDU’s mission is to create and design a human-centric, smart robotic vehicle driven by advanced AI technology with the innate ability to learn and progress while delivering superior autonomous driving capability.

According to Yiping Xia, CEO of JiDU, the concept of symbiosis and co-progression with AI runs through all of JiDU’s actions, and the design of JiDU’s products and brand image is also a process of co-creation with AI. JiDU has created a whole set of visual systems for the product and brand in line with the product positioning of automotive robots. “JiDU has now completed the visual and functional design of the car robot concept car, it will arrive in April as scheduled, let’s set off together towards the future of infinite possibilities!”

JiDU Brand Visual System:

Moreover, the brand visual system for automotive robots was released on the 19th, including the industry’s first automotive robot brand logo “Pixel-J”, along with colours and fonts.

  • Brand Logo “Pixel-J”:

The concept of “pixel” is combined with the letter “J” to create the industry’s first autorobot brand logo. Pixels can be the eyes of robots, helping them to see the world; they can also be the faces of robots, presenting what they think, see and do. The digital world made of pixels is intertwined with the real world, which becomes the gateway to the AI era and a portal to a better future.

  • Colour:

JiDU adopts “JIDU AI-Purple”, a colour system defined by AI itself. JiDU believes that the operation of machines and the evolution of the digital world cannot be separated from AI, which is also the natural attribute of JiDU’s car robots. Therefore, the task of finding the AI’s colour is given to JiDU AI itself. Electricity is the basis of AI operation, and through comprehensive analysis of countless physical experiments, AI found that liquid helium gradually takes on a purple colour when it enters the ionised state in extreme low-pressure experiments, so AI chose “JIDU AI-Purple” as the brand colour, which is both the vision of reality and the base colour of AI.

  • Font:

ROBO Font, which makes pixel squares appear frequently and increases the sense of flickering on the screen. The ROBO Font adds a sense of flicker to the screen, showing a dynamic “display loading” in the static, which becomes the unique text of the car robot. According to Gidu, the robot uses pixels to understand the world and express itself to the world.

JiDU production vehicles featuring the new digital cockpit are expected to be available in 2023 and are expected to be the first production vehicles to feature a Snapdragon 4th Generation Automotive Cockpit Platform in China.

The 4th Generation Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit Platforms are designed to provide superior in-vehicle user experiences, as well as safety, comfort and reliability, raising the bar for digital cockpit solutions in the automotive industry.

The robocar of JiDU has three major product concepts – “Free Movement, Natural Communication and Self-growth”.

Firstly, the robocar has L4 level self-driving capability and can move freely;

Secondly, the precise recognition of human-vehicle interaction and voice semantics allows the car and people to “communicate naturally”, understand user emotions and respond to user needs in real time;

Thirdly, the robocar can learn and iterate itself according to user habits and continuously optimise the self-driving and intelligent cabin experience to achieve “self-growth”.
