Buffet-backed China EV BYD has made frequent moves recently.

According to Xchuxing report, the latest customers of BYD and its battery business company FinDreams Battery may be SAIC Motor and General Motors.

A leaked photo shows that FinDreams Battery is suspected of having awarded a special award to two of its employees to contribute to a new project in the future. The partner of this new project is Pan-Asia PHEV. Pan-Asia Technical Automobile Center was founded on June 12, 1997, by General Motors and SAIC as China’s first Sino-foreign joint venture automotive design and development centre.

This means FinDreams Battery may supply batteries for SAIC General Motors’s plug-in hybrid models.

BYD’s power batteries are not only supplied to the company’s own production models, but also externally. BYD ranked only behind another major battery maker, CATL, last year, securing its place as China’s second-largest battery maker in 2021.

BYD stands out among related industries with its iconic blade battery based on lithium iron phosphate technology. The blade power battery designed by BYD has the advantages of high energy density per unit volume, low material cost and high safety level.
