BYD’s popular Tang model officially sold its 1,000th pure-electric Tang SUV in Norway in December last year, witnessing BYD’s popularity in Continental. After revealing the group’s new logo, the new 2022-style BYD Tang was also exposed on the Internet. The brand new appearance and specs caused heated discussions on the Internet.
As BYD’s flagship product in the pure electric field, Tang EV has been loved by many consumers for its powerful performance and outstanding appearance. The cumulative transaction volume exceeded 240,000, making it the first pure electric model with an average price of more than 20 sales. BYD Tang is a mid-size SUV. It has got gasoline, hybrid, and fully electric versions in China. The all-new 2022 BYD Tang EV is similar in size to the previous one, 4900/1950/1725mm, with a wheelbase of 2820mm. The curb weight of this car is also stunning at 2,360 kg. However, the shape is quite different. The front bumper is different from the past. The body of the water tank cover similar to the traditional gasoline car is removed and replaced by a smoother design. The air inlet on both sides also adopts a more streamlined style, and the overall appearance is more futuristic.
Tang EV’s battery capacity will increase to 108.8 kWh, with a range of 615 km for 4WD and 700 km for 2-wheel drive. The new Tang EV will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, and its engine will consist of two electric motors producing 517 horsepower and 680 Nm. Tang EV will also be available with a single electric motor producing 245 horsepower and 330 Nm. A six-seat variant of the New Tang EV will also be available, featuring an electronically controlled suspension system.
Last, the new Tang 2022 EV is priced at 250,000 to 350,000 RMB, which is slightly more expensive than the previous price of 279,500 to 314,800 RMB. The price difference of more than 10% may be caused by the reduction of the EV subsidies in 2022 in China. Pre-sales of this EV will start in March, and it will hit the market in April-May.
