Not only NIO, XPeng and BYD want to extend sales outside China, Great Wall Motor, another well-known EV car manufacturer from China, officially announced earlier that it will expand the international market again, adding four new Asian countries in 2022, namely Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Singapore.
In order to achieve the global annual sales target of four million units by 2025, Great Wall Motor has acquired the fourth used factory in less than two years. Also, in 2021, Great Wall Motor expanded into four ASEAN countries: Thailand, Brunei , Laos, and Myanmar. Last year, Great Wall Motor announced plans to launch nine models in Thailand over the next three years, with a focus on new energy vehicles. Great Wall Motor now sells three NEVs in Thailand: the Haval H6 HEV, Haval JOLION HEV, and Ora Good Cat, all of which have sold more than 5,000 units.
Premium new energy sedan brand
Besides entering new markets, Great Wall Motor has announced the launch of BC, a premium new energy sedan brand. Thus Great Wall Motor currently has five product lines: HAVAL, TANK, WEY, Ora, and Poer. Source close to the manufacturer told a local media site that the new “BC” brand is positioned as a high-end new energy auto brand that competes with BMW, Mercedes, and Audi.
Great Wall Motor announced that the sales of automobiles in January totaled 111,800 units, a year-on-year decrease of 19.6%; the sales of new energy vehicles in January were 13,781 units, compared with 10,300 units last year, a year-on-year increase of 33.8%. Overseas sales in January were 12,750, up 16.2% year-on-year. Divided by model, the fastest growth in sales this month was the Tank and Ora brands, which increased by 72.2% and 28.9% year-on-year, recording 6,018 and 10,260 units. Great Wall pickup sales decreased by 42.2% year on year.
