NIO finished strong in the last month of 2021. At NIO Day Event on December 18, NIO launched its fifth mass-produced vehicle, the ET5, joining the lineup of ET7, EC6, ES6, and ES8.
At the event, NIO announced the preorder and said the delivery would begin from September, 2022. The pre-subsidy price starts at 328,000 yuan and buyers can get a 70,000 yuan discount if they choose NIO’s battery option. After the latest adjustment, an entry-level Tesla Model 3 costs 265,652 yuan.
The Overall Design
Positioned as a mid-sized sedan, the ET5 measures 4,790mm long, 1,960mm wide, 1,499mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,888mm.
ET5’s gorgeous exterior design is reminiscent of NIO’s supercar DNA and the concept of “Design for Autonomous Driving”. The ET5 boasts a sleek design that indicates its slippery silhouette that cuts through the air with a 0.24 Cd drag coefficient. All versions offer a panoramic glass roof capable of filtering out 99.99% ultraviolet ray. And the ducktail that sits above a full-width LED light bar is also eye-catching.
It’s interior reflects NIO’s concept of the second living room. It was inspired by trends in furniture, fashion, and footwear, resulting in a sophisticated space with a warm touch. A larger glasshouse and panoramic glazed roof create a bright interior complemented by natural and organic hues. A Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound system, ensures every sense is ignited.
ET5 also introduced the latest display technology. NIO has partnered with NREAL, an AR device company, to jointly develop AR glasses exclusive to NIO, which can project an effective screen size of 201-inch at six meters.
NIO Autonomous Driving (NAD)
NIO equips this mid-size saloon with the latest NAD technology. NIO Aquila Super Sensing and NIO Adam Super Computing will help provide a safe and reassuring autonomous driving experience for scenarios such as highways, urban areas, parking and battery swapping.
