We know about NIO House in Oslo’s lavish showroom. We know that Flagship Sedan ET7 will begin delivery on March 18. ES8 sport-utility vehicles are on their way. And few days ago, FOTA software has been updated. Here is another news from NIO.
The first Charging and battery swap stations is here in Lier, Oslo, surrounded by fast-charging stations from Tesla.
“Aligned with our swapping station strategy, we will expand in 2022,” Marius Hayler, head of Nio Norway, said, adding that he expects some 75% of overall car sales to be electric in 2022.
Note that tax exemptions to help cut emissions of greenhouse gases cost a great deal, government will begin to tax on pricy BEVs from 2023.
Take Battery out and swap with another, which lasts 75 and 100 kilowatt hours
Unlike other charging stations, at NIO’s battery swap station, you can take out the battery pack of the entire vehicle and directly replace it with a brand new battery that has already been fully charged.
As shown in the video, the owner only needs to drive the car to the ramp.
The car and the station jointly take over and navigate to the correct location for the removal and replacement of the battery, without any complicated professional operations.
By doing this, owners can dramatically reduce the time it takes to recharge an electric vehicle, which only takes about five minutes.
Besides, the station also diagnoses battery conditions, allowing NIO owners to ensure their batteries are in optimal condition.
Asbjørn Mitusch, the communications consultant at NIO Norway, said the station currently has a capacity of 13 batteries, which could theoretically be replaced by NIO owners 240 times a day.
General Manager of NIO Norway Marius Hayler said NIO expects to build at least 20 identical battery replacement stations in Norway by the end of 2022.
