Partcatalog, an automobile price comparison website just released a global EV internet search ranking on 24 February. Tesla performed well in both EV company searches and model searches , while Xpeng, NIO and Li auto also in the list of EV manufacturer searches.

EV Models
Tesla’s four models- Model 3, S, Y, and X tops first four, with a total of over 6 million searches per month on average.
The absence of Chinese EV companies in the rankings indicates that the development of Chinese EV companies is more concentrated in the Chinese mainland market. It looks like Chinese electric car companies need to get more eyeballs in the world.
BYD’s business may be more global, but since its business is exclusively focused on electric buses, it is understandable that it does not appear in the EV model rankings.
While Xpeng, NIO, BYD and others have been slowly growing in the international market, the data is from 2021, so it may not yet reflect the expansion of Chinese EV companies in the world, which as latecomers need to step up their expansion efforts.

EV Manufacturers
Tesla took first again in the ranking of most searched for EV manufacturers in the world. As the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, it’s not too surprising that Tesla is number one.
No. 2 is RIVIAN, whose products include sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks and electric vans. It may be relatively unheard of in the electric car world, but since the company’s delivery is in 2021, it’s no surprise that it got a huge amount of searches in the last year.
NIO, Xpeng and Li Auto are among the top three young electric vehicle manufacturers in China, ranking 3rd, 6th and 8th respectively. NIO’s average monthly searches have reached 1 million, with its excellent NIO community and marketing , and also because NIO had entered foreign markets earlier than Xpeng and Li Auto. The average monthly searches of Xpeng is 165,000, while Li Auto has 60,500, both at least 6 and 16 times less than NIO.
BYD has always performed poorly in branding, leaving customers unclear about its positioning, such as Tesla’s focus on technology and NIO’s luxury EVs. The rapid development of Xpeng, NIO and Li Auto in recent years has attracted a lot of attention which also leads to less attention to BYD.

Hottest EVs In The US
The VOLVO XC40 RECHARGE took first place among the hottest electric cars in the U.S., with a percentage increase of about 224,900 percent compared to 2020, far ahead of the second-place HYUNDAI IONIQ 5.
The absence of a Chinese EV company in the EV model ranking reflects the fact that Chinese EV models are still a long way behind foreign models. The list of EV companies shows the world’s interest in Chinese EV companies, which have young capital and need to capitalize on the advantages that come with rapid growth to increase their influence in the world of EVs.
