Xiaomi, a Chinese tech giant known as a consumer electronics and smart manufacturing company with smartphones, smart hardware, and IoT platforms at its core. Earlier, Xiaomi’s new MIUI 13 22.2.7 development update to its Mi 11 series smartphones revealed a new feature named “CarWith”.
“CarWith” is placed in the “Connect & Share” settings. According to tech site Mydrivers, CarWith allows users to connect their phones to their cars, just like Apple’s CarPlay and Huawei’s HiCar. They are designed to enable their devices to coexist with embedded car systems from many manufacturers. Users can directly manage the navigation, music and calling functions on the car’s centre console by operating the mobile phone through Bluetooth or cable. Carmakers that cooperate with Apple CarPlay include BMW, KIA, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, Subaru, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Toyota, Mazda and General Motors etc. Combined with China’s booming electric vehicle industry, it is exciting about the future models that can cooperate with CarWith.
Although this new feature is currently only a test and has not been officially released to the public, it still proves that Xiaomi officially stated last March that it will invest an initial $10 billion RMB in the car business and expected to invest $10 billion over the next 10 years. Meanwhile, Xiaomi signed a deal with the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area Management Committee in November last year to develop a headquarters base for its vehicle company, as well as sales and R&D headquarters, in Yizhuang, and a 300,000 -unit annual production capacity auto factory. The factory will be built in two phases, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles in the first and second phases, respectively. The most important schedule is Xiaomi’s first automobile is slated to roll off the assembly line and reach mass production in 2024.
Xiaomi has joined the smart car business, thus it is believed this feature will be released certainly.
