Xpeng Motors plans to expand its product line-up with the launch of a new Smart EV in 2022. The fourth model will be a Xpeng SUV bigger and more advanced than the Xpeng G3i.
All available information about the upcoming Xpeng SUV indicates it will be in the same class as the Xpeng P7. Hence, Xpeng Motors might name their new vehicle the G7, following in the footsteps of its previous models. However, recent reports also state that the company is considering this as the Xpeng G9.
The top-end configuration of the new Xpeng SUV, possibly the Xpeng G7 or Xpeng G9, could have a twin-motor AWD powertrain generating at least 316 kW (430 PS/424 bhp) of power and 655 Nm of torque and be capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under five seconds. An 80 kWh lithium-ion battery pack should be one option, offering a WLTP range of more than 500 km or 311 miles.
The Xpeng SUV’s prices could start at around CNY 250,000 (EUR 34,194) after subsidy. That’d make it cheaper than the Tesla Model Y, the prices of which start at CNY 276,000 (EUR 37,750) after subsidy.
Besides the new SUV model, the State Intellectual Property Office has already appeared a new LOGO registered by XPeng.
